About Little Stars Childcare

At Little Stars Childcare, it’s our ethos that sets us apart from other nurseries.

We embrace a ‘back to basics’ approach, combined with The Curiosity Approach and the nurturing principles of the hygge lifestyle.

Our goal is to create a supportive, imaginative, and child-led environment where children are free to explore, learn, and grow at their own pace.

By focusing on wellbeing, creativity, and independence, we cultivate a space that fosters confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Our Ethos

Learn more about the principles that make Little Stars shine

The Curiosity Approach inspires us to move away from rigid academic structures and embrace a natural, holistic learning environment.

At Little Stars, we provide children with open-ended toys and materials that stimulate their creativity and imagination.

By removing screens and encouraging children to explore their surroundings, we help them develop problem-solving skills and a deep sense of wonder.

Our neutral, uncluttered spaces promote mindfulness and give children room to focus on what interests them most, fostering both independence and social connection.

The Curiosity Approach

Our ‘back to basics’ philosophy means we focus on hands-on, creative experiences with natural materials.

We avoid screens entirely and opt for open-ended resources that allow children to use their imagination freely.

From daily outdoor play to activities with wood, fabric, and other natural elements, we foster a sense of curiosity and encourage children to take ownership of their learning.

This approach helps develop resilience, resourcefulness, and an enduring love for discovery.

Back to Basics

Our adoption of hygge (pronounced hooga) principles means that Little Stars is more than just a nursery—it’s a home away from home.

The Scandinavian lifestyle concept of hygge plays a vital role in our nursery. We focus on creating spaces that feel safe, cosy, and harmonious.

Our rooms are filled with natural light, with cosy nooks and soft, neutral decor that provide a sense of calm and togetherness.

The comforting atmosphere helps children feel secure and encourages them to form meaningful relationships with peers and staff.

Hygge isn’t just about physical space—it’s about fostering a culture of emotional warmth, mindfulness, and contentment.

  • Our nursery cook prepares and cooks meals fresh each day, which allows us to ensure any dietary requirements are accommodated for any children at nursery on that day.

However, if you are more comfortable sending a packed lunch or specific snacks to nursery with your child, that’s absolutely fine, too.
